UPDATE A&M's hatching NOW! Here's a pic of the first guys

Well, out of 43 eggs only 7 hatched. I still have the remaining in the incubator in case there may be a late baby but I've almost given up hope. At least the seven are healthy and running around!

Maybe tomorrow I'll do that. Breeder said she has had them hatch two days apart before.. I am just keeping the humidity up and the bator running away.

I always give them way more time than they should have. When doubt becomes too great then I float test. I have had many a late- bloomer....

I've had alot that stagger out 2 or even 3 days late, and a few early-bird surprizes as well.

just for you scot! (lol)

FLOAT TEST===

start with a bowl of sufficient depth for the eggs your testing to be suspended in water without touching the bottom of the bowl---- fill it with 100 degree water to the desired depth and allow it to settle as much as possible so that no waves or wild currents are found. Very carefully lower you test subject eggs into the water slowly and ease them in with as little disturbance to the water as possible. Allow the water to once again settle and watch them for a few minutes..... once they have stopped whirling and bouncing the results are noted---- if it sinks its a dud! if it floats on top of the water like a fishing bobber then its bad. if it floats with a small portion of the lg end of the egg just out of the water then it was/ is a viable egg. Further inspection=== If its a viable egg and continued observation reveals movement in the egg--- wobbling , vibrating, girating then the chick within is still alive and kickin'! keep the viable wobblers--- dry them gently and place back in the bator....
