UPDATE: Bantam Blue Orpingtons (Pics Added!)

It might be a silly question for the experts here, but I wanted to ask that when you put eggs in on different dates, how do you take the turner out. For example, if I put some eggs this week, and some next week, they'll hatch on different dates (

) The manual syas to take the turner out 3-days prior to hatching, what about the second batch of eggs who still need turning??

Those of us who stagger the hatches have more than one incubator. I have two extra still air incubators that I started out with, and I use them for hatchers. I take the eggs out of the turner in one bator and put them into the other bator which has a higher humidity already and I usually set them in an egg carton with the large end up. Seems to help the chciks navigate to the right end, but that is just my experience. If you don't have another incubator to use as a hatcher, you really can't stagger the hatch in one bator.

Hope that helps.

Well, more sad news today. I finallly got a better flashlight so I could see better through the blue eggs on the ameraucanas. Only 3 of the remaining 7 have babies. I don't know why I could not seen into the others before, I guess my light just was not strong enough. But now I am down from 20 to 3. So I don't have high hopes for those. They are moving in the eggs or so it looks. So cross your fingers they will all 3 hatch and not be all roos or all pullets.

The blue bantam orpingtons are on day 10 today and I will candle them again later on. I did not want to keep the bator open longer than I had to when moving the ameraucana out. Will update on them later.

A little good news, all four of the remaining blue bantam orpingtons are still growing and moving so far. Today is day 15. They go in the hatcher on Monday. Hopefully all 4 will hatch and they wont all be roos, lol.

Keep sending those good hatching vibes.

Today is day 18 and the remaining 4 are still moving in there. I just put them in the hatcher. Keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks. I sure hope they all hatch. I have had bad luck with hatches lately. Hopefully this will be different.
