UPDATE-DELIVERED! :) USPS lost the chickens I shipped Monday!!!!!

Sadly this isn't uncommon with usps.
Thats sometimes why people don't like to ship birds.
I run a small business and they lose/misplace alot of my packages....ya its very frustrating, but when its a living breathing creature being delivered you would atleast expect them to get it right

Alot of the time when they are late or missing its due to being put on late flights.
I hope they arrive ok! Will be crossing my fingers everything will be alright

Oh and even though you pay for a tracking number....it usually doesn't update very much... if at all...

USPS changed their policy on live shipping a year or two ago. You still have to pay for express but they have up to 3 days to deliver. It is not overly hot or cold. As long as they had some fruit or something, they should be fine

I just received a shipped bird today! He was shipped yesterday and arrived in my state today (from the east coast) yet, they did not call me and he was sitting in a sorting center in the back. My phone numbers were clearly marked on there. I was lucky that they did scan in his number when he arrived, but I spent half the morning calling all over to find out where he was. It's so odd that they can scan them in... but it doesn't say WHERE?!?! Anyway, I found him finally and went to pick him up at the airport sorting center (after calling them there and having them hunt his box down). When I got there, the lady was like... what's the rush? He was due to get to you tomorrow. Sigh. I'm guessing your box of birds are sitting in a sorting center some where and they aren't too worried about it. It might be easier to call the largest sorting center near your destination and talk to a live person and have them check. (although I had to call 3 diff numbers to locate the sorting center number)

I am a mailman , and personally appolagize to you! Chickens are shipped express mail and are not delivered to the residence do to there need to be warm so they always have a phone# and you come and pick them up. If they are in transit they should not be left iout in the weather. I sure hope they arrive safely and you can enjoy them.

No they have not said they are lost, I assumed they were simce
they're now 1.5 days late.

I didn't realize they had 3 days even with the "guarantee by" date/time. I've never had a problem like this before. They've always arrived on time exactly on or before th guarantee time.

It's really no wonder why USPS is going broke. Is there ANY other way to ship birds? Counter to counter on an airline? FedEx?????

I'm going through the same thing.
My rooster was shipped Tuesday and I should have gotten him by 3PM today.
They don't know where he is.
He has apples and oatmeal so if he gets here tomorrow or Friday he should be ok.
sleepless in Live Oak tonight
