*Update* Finally Caught the White Dove

Oh, thank you for asking. He/she is doing fine. I threw my shoulder out so still need to complete the outdoor aviary. Have not found her/him a friend. Only finding pairs on Craigslist. So now I have a ringneck couple and a very pretty white Silkie dove pair, who have already laid two eggs. I have everyone inside our house in three separate flight cages. Hopefully I can finish that aviary his week and get Lovey and the ringneck pair outside. I don't think I should try to move the Silkie pair while they're nesting. This has turned into a bigger project than I first imagined.

Ok so I know I'm beating a dead horse but a few things need to be said -
Doves and pigeons are exactly the same thing. The only literal difference is dove comes from German language, pigeon, French (far as my understanding). We just start dove for small birds, pigeons for larger.
2nd, releasing white doves/pigeons isn't a death sentence. You MAY lose 1-2 to predators, but they will just fly home (you need to 'home' them, though, works best with birds that were born at your house). If your willing for 1-2, MAYBE (and that's if it's a far away wedding) birds, you can make a couple hundred (what I've heard, at least) dollars. If you use homers, then the likely hood of them dying is ten times less likely. They fly VERY fast. I wouldn't use 'doves' simply because they're smaller and more suceptible to predators, 'pigeons' less likely since they're bigger/faster (tend to be breed specific though)


Best of luck, I love our pijis. We had a boy who we kept over winter, after that we just fed him, and he stayed around.

Can a wild rabbit breed to a domestic rabbit? No. Does it make them 2 different things? Is the domestic rabbit now a bird, and the wild one a 'real' rabbit? No, because domestic rabbits descended from will rabbits, though a lot of genes have been altered, thus making them sterile to breed.
May I ask, what breed of 'dove' have humans 'made'? We've made frillback pigeons, pouter pigeons, fantail pigeons. If we 'made' a breed of dove, it could probably breed with one of the 'made' pigeons.
Oh, and if you look in a bird book (mine at least) rock pigeons are listed as rock doves.
It's more like saying a domestic horse cant breed with a wild horse, so their 2 different things (and he's I'm aware their 'domestic pigeons)
And btw, a certain amount of female mules aren't sterile. (Randomness)
