Hello Everyone,

The last time I posted I was feeling discouraged as I am scheduled for surgery in 3 weeks and my chcikens are arriving next Tuesday! After careful consideration and planning I chose to stick with the plan and not cancel my order. I'm beyond excited about my chcikens coming; more than anyone could understand! I will still be leaving them alone but for only 2 days; which is still 2 days too long for me, but I'm in a mind-set now that they will be fine as long as they have plenty of food and water. I wanted to thank everyone for information and suggestions offered to help me figure out and plan for my chcickens. So thank ful to have found this group! I am sooooo looking forward to sharing pictures and stories with you all! I am organizing photos of our chciken coop progress to share soon.

See you all soon!

Nothing will put a smile on your face more than baby chicks! Well, besides puppies, but they require a lot more effort. :)

I wish they were baby chicks, but mine will be 18 week old laying hens. But I'm still very excited! Thinking about names already! LOL!

Point of lay birds are a great way to start out - sure, baby chicks are cute, but you'll be so close to your first eggs right out of the gate! What breed(s) are you getting?
Do you have someone who can stop by and verify they haven't gone and spilled or fouled their feed/water while you are unavailable and/or put them in/out of the coop if you are going to be confining them at night?

Yes, the first egg I will be doing a happy dance! No, I have no one to check in on them unfortunately. I asked but no one could help. I have extra watering cans and I made 2 extra feeders to put in the corners of the coop.
