I just have to share this saga with everyone...I have been reading about the 250 watt bulbs and asked a couple questions concerning what to do because my chicks were panting...they seemed to be doing good other than the panting...

So I thought I would run to Walmart last night and pick up a dimmer electric cord and some lower wattage red bulbs, right? Couldn't hurt to have them on hand anyway...well, my walmart doesn't sell:

1. Dimmer Electric Cords
2. Any wattage red bulbs besides an 85 outdoor spot light

So I ended up getting a clamp light that I thought I could clamp on the outside of the brooder...certainly that would help right? Nope, they were too COLD! Ugh...

So this morning I called EVERY place in my COUNTY (not my town, but my COUNTY) to see if they sold a). dimmer electric cords or b.) red lower wattage bulbs.

Guess what? They DON'T!! I had to drive over 45 minutes to the closest pet store and lowe's...but I got what I needed, came home and set the lamp back up with a 150 bulb in it...chicks are panting again!

But at least this time I have:
1. Dimmer switch
2. 150 watt red bulb
3. 100 watt red bulb

Just wanted to share my frustrations:/
