I'm so jealous of all of you with your chicks! I ordered from Ideal this year in early February - first time going with mail order. I wanted to try breeds my feed store doesn't order. My order is supposed to ship May 6; 5 pullets each of Barnevelders, Welsummers, Columbian Wyandottes, Partridge Rocks, Speckled Sussex, and "Ameracaunas." I am glad to see all the successful deliveries after all the sad posts about dead chicks arriving in the mail.
When mine come, I will try to post photos of the chicks, but also later post photos of the adults and their eggs so everyone can evaluate the quality for themselves. I have a hard time knowing what people's standards are when they criticize the quality of hatchery birds.
Most of the birds I have now were from Mt Healthy, because my feed store orders from them. I think they are lovely - GLWs, Black Australorps, and Buff Orpintons.
Hope I am as pleased with the Ideal hens.
