A week or two ago I posted about Mae, who had an incedibly large crop and kept jerking her neck around. After receiving some replies, I ruled out generic sour crop and decided the issue was Pendulous Crop. Given the nature of that issue, I decided to try something before creating a chicken-bra as suggested.
My chickens are pretty friendly, so I picked her up and sat with her a bit. I gently pushed up on her crop, imitating the action a chicken bra would have, and massaged it. She kept still, and kept making swallowing actions. Then she threw up, so I let her go.
Well, the next day, I was outside, and she walked over to me and pancaked. So, I picked her up and massaged her again. This went on for about 5 days (she only threw up one more time). Yesterday, I noticed she was much better, but she was also eating a lot of ash and charcoal from the base of our maple syrup evaporator. I decided not to stop her, as I kind of figured that charcoal is good for a toxic tummy.
Well, today, she is totallly normal - SO normal, that I honestly coudn't pick her out of the group. Her crop issue is 100% gone!
