Update on my Boy **home 8-8-08**

For those of you who don't know, my boy had an undetected heart defect.

We had a terrible day today. He had developed a pleural effusion through yesterday and today, and this morning, we were rushed down to the PICU to have another chest tube inserted. They drained 10 oz. of fluid off his chest, and there's another 150 cc in his drain right now.

This is crazy. He got sick so suddenly. I'm absolutely terrified, but the doctors are assuring me he'll do better now.

He now has three chest drains to try to keep the fluid off his lungs.

I'm was going to post a picture of him with all his tubes and lines, but I'm worried about upsetting too many of you. It's just so sad.

My husband and I are absolutely exhausted and we're out of money, food is ridiculous down here. We're 2 hours away from home, and gas is ridiculous.

Things better get better soon!!!!
Thanks for the prayers and support-

i just saw the pics of your son and he is beautiful. can't imagine what he/your family are going through but am sending positive thoughts/prayers your way right now.

Oh Em, What a beautiful little boy. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Check with the hospital, they should be able to give you vouchers for meals or something like that.

My dad was working in WI, and he spent I am not sure how long in ICU, we of course went up there from MO and the hospital was wonderful to us, they gave us food vouchers and we had to pay for no meals. Might ask about it.

Take care

Em: Is he in a children's hospital or a facility that might have a McDonald house? I guess they are still operating around the country. They used to be great.

Mangled, I just found this thread. Will put an alarm on my phone to pray for him each day. Please keep us posted on his recovery. Do you have a church family? If so, don't be too proud to ask for funds. They usually have a special fund or will take a special offering. Extreme circumstances require outside help. I can only imagine your pain. What a beautiful little boy. Love coming your way from central NY.

You may have already said it, but if so I didn't find it. What is his name? I find it easier to pray for someone by name.

Children's hospitals all have social workers (all hosp do but the ones at kids hospitals are usually better funded) ask to see one and let them know what your situation is they can help hook you up with food and housing etc....

Will be sending positive energy to you and yours, blessed be!
