Update on the Preschool Chicks, Still don't know what they are. (New Pictures

Cochins, silkies, and quite a few other but i cant name them off the top of my head. btw I can 100% garantee that it isnt a silkie chick. It would be agood idea to have acovered top especially if you live in town, because my chicks fly over the fence all the time.

We just got the coop almost built. So excited :D going to paint it barn red with white trim, and then I can put the last 2 hinged roof doors on, and of course find some shingles. Coop is 5x4 and is 5 feet high, hope that is good size, it looks freakin huge, hopefully we have 4-6 hens in our bunch, since I can't keep a roo. It has 2 different height perches, both 4 feet across, 3 very large nest boxes, that I can remove the inserts if I want. Large hardwear cloth vents on the top, closing hen door, and then latching clean out door, and both slanted roof sides will be hinged to open as well. As of right now we are thinking of leaving the coop under our wooden deck. It's a high rise deck, that has about 15 feet up. So we are going to put the coop under it so they won't try to fly out when they are in their run, and will lock them up out at night, that way I won't have to worry about hawks or Eagles coming in through the trees at night. So they will be fenced off under our deck, and right now we are planning on 12 ft by 18 ft fully enclosed run with the coop, since it has the deck on top. And then I will let them out during the day. Still need to figure out where to put their fence from the dogs for free range. But at least we got the coop almost done, they literally could move in, but I still need to fence off the run, and paint it. I still have a few weeks, I know the ones that are about 4 weeks, would probably be okay during the day. But they are also fine in the huge crate I have them in now. Still tons of room.

New pictures of the babies. I think they are Cochin Mix with the feathers on the legs, except for the black on.

Chick #1

Chick #2, no feathered legs

Chick #3

Chick #4 (Maybe Mille Fleur d'uccle mix) The smallest of them.

I'm new here and don't know squat yet, but we have a black chick like your third one and if it's a black star then it's a male. I have one just like it only no spot on head so it's supposed to be a female. Other guesses on my black chick are australorp. But I think yours is a black star like mine. Mine has the yellow wing tips too.

I was thinking the black one could possibly be a barred rock, all the ones at the local feed store all look just like it. I'm not so worried about the white spot. I have another chick that we rescued before these ones, it was much older when I got the chick then theses ones, but it had a huge white spot on its head, and its still looking like a pullet at 4-5 weeks. But I could be wrong, I don't know anything about chickens, we just started since my daughter insisted that we keep the chicks. I just wanted to see if anyone could tell me what they thought they might be. Hopefully we have a few Pullets, because I can't keep any Roo's where I live. :(

I was so excited when i built mine too and i painted mine the same i wanted it to have the colors of what i consider a traditional barn.

I was thinking it was a barred rock too, just praying its a pullet not a roo since the dot is so very large. I just had to, I mean just had to buy to Rhode Island Reds and 2 Easter Eggers today, got them from a chicken breeder and she shows her birds. She said that these are hatcheries, but they are vaccinated and sexed pullets, and if they turn out to be a Roo, I can take them back and she will replace it with another pullet. I really want some good Eggers. The 2 Easter Eggers look different, I even said to her are you sure they are both Easter Eggers, one looks just like a chipmunk, and the other is like a blueish/grey looking one. She said they come in different colors and thought I would like 2 different looking ones. So heres hoping she was right.
