update p3- Wilbur is surviving - but very lethargic

Thanks for your kind words for Wilbur.

I took him to our vet and she and others on her staff spent a good deal of time examining him. He has some areas of major bruising and he lost all of his rear tail and butt feathers. The vet gave him a shot for pain (48 hr) and he's still very somber and lethargic. My only encouragement is that he did eat some food and is not dehydrated.

I just hope he is able to get back to his usual self. I'm trying to get some young girls for him, but will, of course, need to keep them quarantined for a while.

This has and continues to be a very sad time for us.

Hi McGoo and Wilbur,

I'm praying for you two and hoping that he'll be able to pull himself up.
Is he eating? Does he like scrambled egg or plain yogurt? Have you tried ACV in his water?
Take care of yourself too.

sorry honey - we all feel bad for you. keep your chin up! wilbur just needs time - as long as he's eating there is lots of hope. i'd second the yogurt.

hang in there!

It really warms my heart to know that you peeps are out there sending your hugs to Wilbur and me.

I have made him yogurt, oatmeal, blueberries. He ate a couple of blueberries and some of his usual pellets this afternoon. He's still really lethargic... so time is the best thing.

And I'm getting a few hens tomorrow. I'll put them in another pen so he can see them from a far.

I hope he is surprised by the hens and it stirs him out of his shock/depression a bit.

thanks so much to you all.
