After really doing a good once over on Pippin, I believe I feel a small, not quite ping pong size egg in her lower abdomen, about 2" from her vent. I looked at her vent this morning and it is very small, least compared to the other older hens. When it gets a bit more into the day I will go out and see if I can't catch her then put a little olive oil around and into her vent, making sure I don't harm or break the egg that is there.
This is the 3rd day today this is going on and no egg from her. I am concerned she may not be able to lay it due to how small her vent is so hopefully with the oil, and going to take oatmeal out there, she may be able to pass it. She has still been eating, drinking, pecking and scratching around, acting normal for the most part. She is a 6 month old Barred Rock pullet.
Any other helpful hints and/or ideas?
