(UPDATE!!) Red not getting better * PSU Replied!

She is sitting on my lap right now. She looks alert, she is looking around but won't or can't move......??????? She ate some plain yogurt for me.

Oh yes, that gets them all! Dawg says that it kills over the course of several days too so you don't have to worry about a mass and instantaneous die off. He says he doesn't even bother with the Wazine anymore or even the Ivermectin (I like Ivermectin for the external parasites but Ivermectin can cause a mass die off so you don't want to use it as a first time wormer).

If you've used Wazine in the last couple weeks Ivermectin would be fine. Valbazen gets all the known chicken internal parasites as far as I know. Ivermectin doesn't get gape or tape worms.

I'm really concerned about her legs. Did you get the scaly mites treated? I'm wondering if maybe there was an infection caused by the scaly leg mites and it's gone into her bones.

If her legs are hot that means infection. Do you have any new pictures of Red?

I hope she pulls through - sending healing thoughts to your sweet girl!

I have been coating Red's legs with petrolium jelly every couple of days lately. I don't think they look as bad but i'm not an expert. Her legs are starting to get smoothe to the touch. Should I give her a shot of Pennacillin? And how much should I give her now? She has new feathers coming in, I think I got rid of the lice that were on her and will baithe her again in a few days to get any newly hatched nits. I was on my way to TSC last night to get some wormer and my car started overheating. So I had to pull over and call my hubby, who incidently is a tow truck driver till tomorro, he came and got us but I never got to TSC so I am hopeing that she can hold on till tomorro. should I try to put some DE in her feed? That will help if there are any worms right? So many questions........... Not sure how much time she has yet.... All I can do is to continue to try to make her better.....

New feathers coming in is great news! Is she eating good? Feed her some cat food if she'll eat, the protein would do her some good. You could go the weaker Wazine route today if you have a working vehicle. Otherwise a little DE wouldn't hurt.

I would repeat whatever seemed to be working last time around as far as antibiotics, food, etc.

I'm working with a hen who has peritonitis. I've got her on some expired Baytril. It seems like she starts making improvements when I put the Duramycin in the water. I don't know if it's just because the Baytril is older or the water soluable works better than I thought.

Do you have a little gatorade for her, you can put a splash in some water it'll encourage her to drink.

btw: When was the last time you treated her for the mites/lice and with what?

Last week I baithed her in Dawn Dish soap. I also have been putting DE on her. That is all I did for the lice so far and I have not seen any new ones on her since. But like I said I plan on baithing her again soon. I will give her some cat food. She loves yogurt and she loves it when I make her mash with yogurt in it.

Thanks for being so encourraging.. I needed that.. I thought I was starting to do something wrong with her again... Don't know what but you know how it feels when you keep on trying and trying and you don't feel as if your getting anywhere.. Frustrating!!!!!

Anyways thanks again for caring.!
