Yes! As long as you didn't use accelerants. I also don't like to burn waxy boxes just in case there's some bad chemicals for chickens. They sometimes eat the charcoal. I probably do 70% dirt and 30% wood ash. They LOVE it! Make these cute little chirping sounds of pleasure.
Cool! I will definitely make them a dirt / ash pit this weekend. I think we have a small plastic kiddie pool somewhere that the dog never used as a puppy. It's larger than I would like and will take up space but it's free and I won't have to make anything. We'll start with that. Thanks for the suggestion.

This gives me a great idea of what to do with our small duck pond which we make inside the pen. It is too difficult to empty and the water gets really green (nasty). We decided to empty it completely and to build a channel so that rainwater does not fill it up again. Then we will fill it with dirt, mulch and ASH ... great thank you! The hens will love their new "bath" and so will the peas : ) Going to separate the ducks out of there soon too (they are so messy and the pen is becoming too crowded). The other thing that I noticed a few days ago, the hens did not want to go home to roost; I had to carry them in. When I put them down yesterday, the two male ducks ran straight over to hump them (I know from the forum that this is dangerous), so we made a separation within the large pen (soon they will have their own pen)

yes, for her health check I gently cleaned her comb with dawn dish soap - she did not enjoy that. It came off as dirt. Her comb is dirty again so I'm going to ignore it. Strange that it is reflecting as circular spots.
Do you have a pic when you got her? She’s most likely a spent hen
