**update** Sick Chicken--took To Vet

The vet finally called back! After I told her the history in great detail she does think Poppy has something going on in her gizzard or crop. That's what I felt was the problem all along.

Purple tree23-- that's why I couldn't understand why she said she was fat! I don't have a scale small enough to weigh her accurately. The vet now thinks its a digestive issue.

So now I am really worried...

Feed her like I described and have the vet perform the surgery to get the crop impaction out. MAYBE you want to go to another vet. Her diagnosis was way off. Who ever you have perform the surgery make sure you ask them how many times they have done it. DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU THAT MASSAGE AND OLIVE OIL AND ACV WILL WORK. All of that tangled, fermenting gunk has to be removed.

Please don't worry. I can tell you that all I want but I know you still will. Crop surgery is not difficult. I'm a surgical nurse and I've done it myself to one of my chickens on my kitchen counter and my girl is still walking around fine and happy today.

PM me if you like...it's 9:15 here and I've had a long day but I'll check back before going to bed

No worries....she'll be fine

Crop surgery is not rocket science. I had to do the same thing on a 5 day old chick. It's not that complicated and it healed on it's own without stiches. She's now 16 wks old. It was the first and only time I've had to do it. Hope I never have to do it again. BTW there are no chicken vets where I am.

5 day old chick?! You win the prize! Good gracious. Glad she is doing well. I also hope I never have to do it again.

I am still giving Poppy her hard cooked egg and she's had the laxative in her water since last night. Just lots of urine and some of the same green poo with some substance. The vet tested it yesterday and said she is passing some feces. Hope the laxative works.

LATEST UPDATE ON FIRST POST.
