Can someone explain to me what is the candling method you are talking about? And what about the piping?

candling is when you hold a flashlight to the egg in a dark room and its kinda like when u can see your veins through your fingers if you do it on ur hand, you can see the embryo developing in the egg
a pip is the little crack a chick makes before it hatches so it can breathe, it usually will pip, rest for a few hours, then zip (move around 360 in the egg and break the shell all the way around) and hatch

Thanks. I'll try to candle my eggs then. I feel so ignorant!!!

dont worry you will get the hang of it, try searching the forum for candling to get a more percise description on it

theres one whos out and dry and the second is about 90% out of the egg
we also have three pips, im still waiting on one more to pip and i think the rest are dead

Don't give up, they can stretch out quite a bit time wise. I always leave the unhatched ones in 3 days past their due date. I had a batch of 7 black copper marans hatch and FOUR DAYS LATER, as I was getting ready to toss the unhatched eggs, one was hatching! It took him about a week to catch up strength wise, but he is find and the same size as his brothers & sisters now. It was weird, but it worked!
