I'm so excited and can't wait!

The very first of what I'm sure will be my new addiction will be arriving next Wednesday! 22 chicks from Ideal, barred rocks and buff orpingtons. I thought My Kids (3 year old boy and 11 mo old girl) would be excited but I am more so than they are! I have one great big box, pine shavings, heat lamp, waterer, feeder, chick feed and I'm sure I got some more stuff when I went shopping just can't remember... Am I missing anything critical?

How exciting!

are these your first chicks? and what are you getting? I hear a lot of good things about ideal, so I'm hoping for the best. I'm getting 20 pullets and two roos, 11 per breed. Can't wait! I was hoping to add some more exotic looking chickens, but the hubby needs some time to adjust, so I'll wait a bit...

The waiting is the worst part, I have an order of 25 bantam to ship on 2-15 and 5 Sumatra and 6 Ideal 236 to ship on 2-24. Can't wit to see all the fuzzy butts. Sounds like you got what you need for the arrival.

Didn't see it when I was at tractor supply either!

tractor supply is the only place I can find it. Them babies will love you if you give them "candy" try mushed up strawberries, or mealworms, you can put crickets in there for them too. You may want to break off a leg of them so they're easier to catch. They'll goe nuts! You'll get to see them play what we call chicken football. Very entertaining!

This is some of the website description from Ideal: Ideal 236 is a breed cross layer developed by Ideal Poultry in the 1960's and is the most productive, efficient layer sold by Ideal. They are known for their production of large, smooth-shelled, white eggs.

Yep, my first chicks! I am getting 9 pullets (3 SLW, 9 GLW, and 3 BB) with 5 more SLW coming form a local lady shortly after. That's all I have room for for now, Or I would have loved to get a larger order! I am still building, much larger then I need, so when it is all done and I know exactly how many more I can handle, I will be getting some more! I have actually been reading alot about incubation and such, and once I have proven to myself that I can handle this (lol) I would love to try my hand at it!

Cant wait to see pics of your babies!!!
