When you alter them. Sometimes there is a loss when saving to jpeg. Jpeg is a compression format of a file. With music, mp3 is a compression, and there is quality loss.How does that help?

When he takes photo s, he uses RAW settings and saves them to tiff during transition to computer. Then jpeg as the final product only when leaving the computer. He is a fanatic though. Fussie perfectionist.
