Thank you. I sure hope so.

Please pause for just one minute before you stain/ paint this wood that has so much character. Painted, it will always be just red or white or green boards. Left as is,(and treated with tung or teak oil) it will be "Cypress from my grandfathers mill" very nice indeed. you have reason to be proud.

I was able to get the south wall framed in today, which is a huge weight off my mind. I have been trying to figure out how to get it done. It was much simpler than I expected. The south wall includes the nesting boxes (which I did decide to extend outside), ventilation and a window. I will try to post a picture in the morning.

I wanted to post some interior pics.

This picture is the framing of my south wall. The plywood behind the framing is the original material and will come down and be replaced with cypress boards like the other sides. There is a space for a window and 6 nesting boxes (which will extend out of the building). This is not a load bearing wall...which is why I was able to leave the opening for the nesting box so large. The actual box will give it more strength as well.

This is an interior view of the Northwest corner of the building. I will eventually have a roost with poop board running along both walls.

Got a lot further along on the south side of the coop last night/this morning before the rain hit. I am a bit concerned about my ventilation though. I had hoped that by having the trianglular openings up high, there wouldn't be a draft where the roost is going. I stood in the coop today as the storm was blowing in and a breeze was blowing straight through. I suppose I am going to have to make a cover so that I can close it up on the windy days (unfortunately it will have to be on the inside rather than the outside of the coop. As of now, when the windows are open, I'll have around 30 sq ft of ventilation. With the windows closed, I have around 16 sq ft.

The red plywood is where the nesting boxes will be located. They will extend out of the coop with access to the nests from the outside.

I am now trying to figure out what to do on the east side. It currently has a double door (total opening is 6'), which would be awfully nice for cleaning it out, but it doesn't match the rest of the coop (cypress siding). I suppose I could side the area around the door and leave the door as is...I keep going back and forth. If I redo this side, I will most likely add a third window that would also be able to be opened for additional ventilation.

How cold does it get? Chickens do O.K. between 80 & 20 F without remedy. But I'll bet you have high humidity.
I would simply block off the tri-angles and i would do that as more wall, on the outside. The windows will be enough ventilation, they're adjustable anyway, and if not then put a window on the tall wall and change the double doors to a single and put a window beside the door. You'll have to cover everything with hdwe cloth to keep the varmits out. Patandchickens has a ventilation page. Use it as a guide. She knows her stuff. You're doin' good. I want to see the cypress after the oil treatment.

And, i would not take the plywood off, it just adds to structure, am I missing something?
