I used to try putting artificial plants in my turtle tanks as well. They never stay put because of busy turtle feet.
No worries, she wont get tangled. You could try live plants like frogbit or water hyacinths. Just know that live turtle tank plants should be considered disposable. If you go that route, it's best to grow them in a separate tub and just refresh the turtle tank as necessary.
Aquarium heaters will work. Just make sure you do your math and get the proper size. Their water should be about the same as a factory set aquarium heater. 72-80*F.
