UPDATED with new pictures OLD INCUBATOR???

OK>>> I don't have a clue... But it looks like it could be a really cool piece of furniture too.. LOL.. I love old stuff.. Anyone need a buffet or something.. thats way cool.. and becuz its been outside and such with NO history, I would offer the 20.00 and no more. the parts to fix may be pricey.

Woody, I believe it is a Leahy..I will check over the weekend..when I first looked at it, I didn't think tolook for it..then we were at a consignment sale where there was one like it that was a Leahy..that one sold for $150.00..sigh.

If, in fact it is a Leahy, i'm sure it's worth the money. Keep us posted, please. Even though there were a lot of Leahy's manufactured, i get the impression that they are getting harder to come by and over the last few years are getting more expensive, also, i foresee this trend continuing. JMO. I know if i run into one that is reasonably priced, i'll jump on it like a banty rooster on a junebug.

OK. I bought the WHOLE thing, and it is BIG. And heavy. I paid the full 100.00 for it. They had cleaned it up for me and helped load it and tie it on. AND let me have first choice on some other cool stuff from their garage sale that is tomorrow. Really nice people. They came out to CA from New York to take care of his mom, that must be hard.

About the incubator, not electric as you all suspected. Looks like it is kerosene. It is in excellent condition for its age. The wood is sound, and probably won't need more than a little sanding and some oil. It all looks original except there were braces put on the legs, but they did a decent job with that. I would like to refinish the latches and hinges. Has the original glass in the windows. Some neat vents on the side. The trays are missing so if anybody has any pictures of what trays from an OLD incubator would look like please send them to me. I would like to make them look as close to old as possible, but I will convert it to electric with fans. I also want to try and put egg turners in it.

I will take some pictures tomorrow as it was too dark tonight. I didn't see any labels or tags. I am hoping that one day I can put a brooder under the incubator shelves and make it an all in one. When I get my sun room / greenhouse done next year I think it will fit nicely in there.

Thanks for encouraging me to go and get it. I think it was a good save.

I found one some years ago...............it was heated by KEROSENE and worked well until it caught on fire.

Thats a neat looking old incubator...I think you got a great buy with it. Wow, powered by kerosene? It must be pretty old....

If possible, you should keep all the original kerosene equipment intact. Just add the electric. I am sure the Sportsman parts will adapt to this. You can make just slide out trays and use the hovabator turners in the trays. Definetly post photos asap and duringa nd after the adaption.
