Updates on the last pages: Neighbor is threatening me and my chickens

The ”meeting” with the zoning board actually happened today. It was my husband, a neighbor i asked to go, and the zoning board chair. The ZBC had called everyone on the same day he called us and told them not to go. I had a feeling he was trying to bully us into not going. At this “meeting” he gave us the actual application for a use variance. He only did this because the county is now involved. Pretty sure me going to the judge has something to do with that but I’m just glad they’re doing this right. Even if it does get passed we will only be able to keep six hens. Okay. I’ll figure that out when we get there.

At least there is the potential for some good news. Any idea when there might be a ruling on this?
The county meets on the first. We need to have all the paperwork filled out by then. I hope it drags out for months honestly. That way we can get the loans we need to finally move.

I also don’t really believe the zoning board chair about only being able to keep 6 hens. He has lied so much to us through all this. I think the county might have taken the decision out of his hands. But I’m not sure. The people we have to appeal to now is some other zoning board. I believe the county board. At least this is what my husband told me.

It does not matter what he SAYS, it matters what is ON PAPER ! Surely the law is written down somewhere, it has to be, have him show you where he got the number from. At very least even if he's a lazy pos, which most politicians are, you can get the ordinance number or whatever from it and look it up yourself to see what it all really says.

Good Luck

He pulled the number out of thin air. There is limit on how many I can have. The only ordinance pertaining to poultry is the coop has to be 300ft from my neighbors dwelling. And that they cannot run at large unless fenced in. That’s literally it.

It seems to me, unless they provide a copy of the law/ordinance, if they tried to take your birds you can call the sheriff who should protect your property if they don’t have said law/ordinance in hand. But I’m not good w this legal stuff lol.
