I brought home 4 New Arrivals yesterday and, since it was starting to rain and we'd had to take the tarp walls off their 4x8 coop for transport, I stuffed them into the Broody Breaker and added more weatherproofing for the night. It POURED just before bedtime and I got completely soaked checking on them, but they were fine.

Today I upgraded their accommodations, converting the dog crate and a brooder/playpen frame into a mini-coop and run that should hold them until the new coop is done. It's not a predator-proof build, but they should be fine inside my electric netting.

To get the feeder out of potential rainfall I will get my son with his longer arms to stick the block into the coop for me tonight after DH brings home a bale of straw to give them some good bedding.

They've got 23 square feet total, which should hold them until everyone can move into the new coop.

That temp setup is better than some of the permanent ones I've seen, and has more room. They should be happy in there at their age.

Yes, I noticed that when I worked out the numbers.

Which is a sad commentary on the general state of pre-fab coops.
