Ok, here is a wierd one, my young Blue Cochin Rooster, Bluester, presented himself this morning, and I noticed his upper beak was broken off at the tip, and there look like two small splits traveling up the beak a bit. The lower 'beak' (lip, bill?) is now sticking out further than the upper by about a quarter inch. The upper section is kind of ragged, and definetly sharp! (puncture on my hand to prove it!) He doesnt seem to notice it, not that he would show it any ways.
Bluester is one of three of my 6 month old roosters just starting to feel thier oats. He is the gentlest of the bunch, and more apt to run from our adult rooster than tussel. So I am not sure how this happened.
Should I worry about him? I have a vet I can take him to if need be, but if others have seen this type of injury and not had issues, I am inclined to hold on to my 40 bucks.....
Has any one ever dremeled at chickens beak?
