upper respitory infection, help meds arent working

It's possible that your chickens have infectious coryza. Tylan will usually treat mycoplasma, unless you have used it often, and it has become resistant. Did your chickens have a bad odor before the Tylan was started? Thick nasal secretions, sticky eye drainage and swollen eyes or face usually turns out to be coryza. Sulfa drugs such as Di-Methox, Sulfamed G, and Albon would treat coryza.

Coryza is not one they will get over completely. Both mycoplasma and coryza are chronic diseases that make carriers of the flock, but mycoplasma can be milder. I don't know how big your flock is, but I would probably cull sick chickens with coryza. You can't get rid of it unless you depopulate, disinfect the premises, and wait a month or so to get new birds.

Could that be why the tylan isnt working the least bit? What can I give them to knock it out? one of my pullets is really starting to get thin. Egg production is about t he same, but they arent getting bettef
