upper respitory infection, help meds arent working

I'm by no means an expert as I just had my first case of disease in my flock but your chickens sound like mine. Mine were diagnosed with Mycroplasma Synoviae. MS can cause the smell as infection has a really bad odor. It is a disease they will carry for life and it needs to be confirmed with a necropsy. Look up your State Poultry Lab. Sometimes they will take your sickest bird and kill it for you to necropsy. I had this all done here in GA for free. While waiting to hear the results the state vet had the remainder of my flock on Duramycin-10 for 7 days at 5 tsp per gallon of water. Withdraw the meds on day 7, wait 3 days and administer again for 7 more. He said it is a safe dose. Cold weather makes it harder to treat illnesses like this just as cold weather is worse on us with sinus trouble and colds. I know it is hard to deal with sick chickens and I wish you the best with them.

Can I cllect my eggs to hatch chicks? Or will al their isses be passed own to the egg? They are still taking tylan, but vet said they arenkt sick. So are my eggs safe to collect to hatch or?

I was told not to consume the eggs until they were off the antibiotics. For Duramycin-10 it was 21 days after the last dose. As for hatching, I would want to know for sure what type of infection/disease they had before I risked passing it onto the chicks. Some viral issues could be passed onto chicks.
Is your vet an Avian Vet? If not, maybe search your state ag department or state poultry sites for a number to call. You may not get an answer until Monday. They can be more helpful than a regular vet.

Duramycin 10 withdrawal period is 21 days after the last dosing. Here's a link, post #33:

Thanks for the clarification but that post was dealing with treating the fowl. He wanted them on the antibiotic for 7 days, off for 3 then right back on it again for 7 more.
I will edit my last post though as the vet said I could start collecting the eggs 7 days after the last dose. He could have been confused on his days.
