Hi not really sure how to write this but was wondering how do you all handle when family says you need to sell you chickens because you have “too many chickens” i wasn’t even aware this was a thing lol but it was brought to my attention i should sell my silkie flock along with my white crested cuckoo polish pair and my mottled cochin pair along with half my easter egger flock i have plenty of space for all of them so not really sure where this came from it’s just kind of upsetting for me because i love my birds and never really planned on selling them. should i rehome them or just brush it off?

How many birds do you have, and in what size area? Did you ask them why they were concerned about your numbers?

Honestly if they're not your parents and you don't live with them... I say ignore it!

If it's your house, your land, your birds, then it's your decision. As long as there is not neglect or abuse or filthy conditions, then it's no ones business. If there are variables and circumstances that we aren't aware of, then circumstances might dictate a different decision. EVERYONE has opinions. Those opinions are just that, and are not necessarily applicable to YOUR life. If you are a minor living with your parents, then that's different. Or if you are living on another person's property, again different.

I’m not sure the exact size of the coop my birds are in but there’s about 23 easter egger hens and 2 roosters and i only have 4 silkies and then the two pairs. i ask more on why they’re wanting me to get rid of them and it’s pretty much because they aren’t producing eggs but it’s the wrong time of year for eggs + molting on top of that and silkies are always broody anyways but we never got them for just eggs they’re pets..
