UPSTATE NY chickenstock OCT 3rd Sunday!! -The aftermath and hatching

Quote:
for sure-Karen the Chickenstalker will be doing it this go round-she is in charge.

Karen -whats been rattlings around for ideas on this? I have a totally different idea compared to how we did it in PA so IM SURE it will be much better than then:)

I would love to hear your idea. I have a table and canopy that I was going to set up for it with a big Egg Auction sign above it.
BTW I will be taking preregistration for the auction in about a week or so. I wanted to wait closer to the date because I know as soon as I give it the go all the hens across NYS will cross thier legs in defiance.

LOL.. defiance? Is that what you call it

So... here are some of the birds I have up for grabs.

1 chantecler 1yo hen (I only have one and I am trying to decrease the types of birds I have)
2 BLRW roos from Baregretchen one with excellent type and color, but a straight comb and one with excellent color and a smallish rose comb.
1 trio of BLRW from Sterling Sue/Foley lines he has awesome dark color and lacing on chest, but the rest of his lacing isnt perfect and 2 hens with decent type though their lacing isnt perfect. More pet grade than breeder grade IMHO
Pair of white easter eggers- she is POL and lays a nice mint green egg.
2 pairs of Marans Cross OE's from chickenstock.
Extra FCM cross roosters that would be excellent for anyone doing an Oive Egger project.

well we put a chart out for each set of eggs for sale-no private slips in a bucket. List the starting price of the eggs and let people bid on them-writing their bids for everyone to see-so they can come back throughout the day and make sure they are still in the lead...or not and bid again:) I can make up the bidding paged at work as I did this for auctions for my DD's school:) I have alot of clip boards I can "borrow" from work to hold each page. whoever has the higest bid by closing wins:)

Gosh I hope I have another broody by then:-(

Now last time we split the profits with Steph and Jason-are we doing that again???

1/2 to the host 1/2 to the original egg donator? I Dont care really I just would like to know how we are dealing with that...It was kinda thrown in teh air last time and confused people and I just want to get it straight way ahead of time to explain it to people-what do you think?

good idea. How about when people drop off the eggs I'll have them fill out the top of the sheet then tape the sheet to the lid top so then when people are checking out the eggs the sheets don't get mixed up and we know who's bidding on exactly what (I remember that was an issue at PA...bidders didn't specify exactly which eggs)

We are absolutly giving 1/2 the proceeds to the wonderful host! Some might donate all

I don't know what anyone else wants, but the eggs that we give you are there to help you cover some of the cost of all this, so we aren't expecting anything back from the auction.

I'm also going to make a master list of eggs so I can keep track of all the entries. That is what I am goin to start in a week or so. Could you email me your action forms. Thanks.

I will take him baregretchen!

you better drug up your DH for the trip home or make a nice chair for him on the roof of your vehicle-there wont be any room for him in the car...LOL

Baha ha ha! My suggestion is to set up the husbands (who are reluctant to bring home MORE chickens) in a comfy corner with a large bottle of hard alcohol...have them do shots everytime they hear the word "chicken". By the end of the swap, I'll be all set loading up all the chickens I want!
