I wouldn't jump to a mereks conclusion. so many other reasons that it could be. Like Mary said..... even coming down hard on her feet could be it. Wish they could talk right? Make life a whole lot easier.

Yah I concur, I highly doubt mareks. I think it is the stress from shipping and changing locations. Being in a whole new setting. I had one hen I sold to someone that before NEVER flew or even tried to. She turned into a spaz for them and was leaping 6 foot fences, impressive since she's a little bottom heavy chantecler.

Stuff just happens sometimes.

I've never lost any of my baby chicks once they got out of the incubator but sold off a bunch of VERY healthy appearing two day olds to someone and she said one died two hours after she got it home. For the life of me, I can't see how that happened as these were a very perky bunch of chicks. Just the stress of travel, I guess! Thankfully she agreed with me.

I lost the splash Silkie I got this morning..it has not been good for a couple days ...I did the scrambled eggs and nutri drench yesterday and it seemed to perk up but when I got up this morning it had died

I think this confers to me that I definately have to host earlier in the year. I think it might stress the birds a little less. Not sure how much the weather affected things, but I figure it couldn't hurt. The tentative date I have picked (can you believe it?) is June 25th, 2011.
