UPSTATE NY chickenstock OCT 3rd Sunday!! -The aftermath and hatching

I'm losing my second SF chick. It's lethargic, breathing deep, and sleeping 90% of the time. It was ok, just peepy last night. I've made it drink and it will get up and stand but do nothing else. After hundreds of chickens and years of doing this you would think this would be easy. It's not. It sucks real bad.

This may be a horrible idea but I put the sick chick under my broody. I figure if it's going to die than let it die close to a momma hen. The broody bites me every time I check on the baby so she has already taken to it. Now I'm thinking it's cruel to do to her. Darn it.

I'm sorry to hear that.
But I really think you did the right thing. I'd have made the same choice as it will be comforted and cozy.....and momma will maybe get over it quicker than you will I am betting.

If we can have the golf cart running then I will!!! The mule is my SIL's:-(

I really want one of the enclosed cab Kabota diesels, but it's gonna be a little while for one of those. On the plus side, we're signing the papers on the house today!!

Congrats!! We did last week and now keeping fingers crossed the rest goes smoothly..............Murphy's law usually follows me around.

I know you will be signing yours soon. Though, I'm sure that can't come soon enough for you!

That is what happened to most of the chicks we had picked up in MD. One day they were fine and then within hours they would be lethargic and die. Ended up giving the rest Sulmet. It seemed to do the trick. Hope your others will be fine.
