UPSTATE NY chickenstock OCT 3rd Sunday!! -The aftermath and hatching

Were they living wild they would just hunker off and die on their own. Cats I find often do that rather than show their helplessness...We "keep" them alive as we do our own "human" beings....and sometimes it just isn't the "correct" decision.

My Golden I chose to die at home in my own hands. I will never regret that decision and would do it again in a NY minute. I held her tight for 1/2 a day.....and she knew I was there sending her off. I've done that 3 times now. I currently have 2 dogs now at ages 7 and 8.... I will also honor them the same way.

It is always a difficult decision to have to make..... but we need not be selfless.

After all....animals do have a sense of dignity. I firmly believe that. Again, my condolences....

your tears are mine as well...........

A small bit of good news in all this sorrow:

Our poultry show has over 1000 birds registered! That's the most we've had in many, many years. I have nine myself, and between Gretchen, Maria, Christine and Jeremy there are 44 more! A week from tomorrow - woo hoo!

Oh good grief..........don't tempt me. I have single sizzle (splash/pullet)...pocelain (pullet) both just over 2 months old...and a 5 month old golden SeaBright. They are gonna freeze to death this winter unless I get me some other pullets to live/keep them warm.

Muggs ur pm box is full...did u get georges email? ear med fausto is on for the ear infection and the sid effects it can have on the kidneys? Worth looking into. Something has triggered this behavior...just don't go from fine to this type of problem basically over night with no explanation

There is a potential for reversible and irreversible ear and kidney toxicity. Betamethasone Side effects associated with this medication are related to the individual ingredients. Gentamicin Side effects associated with this medication are related to the individual ingredients. Gentamicin: while absorbed poorly from the skin, when applied topically for prolonged periods of time to large wounds, burns, or denuded skin. There is a potential for reversible and irreversible ear and kidney toxicity. Betamethasone: Side effects following the use of injected or oral corticosteroids include weight loss, loss of appetite, increased thirst and urination.

So I'm not going to make it to the poultry show. My kids thought it was more important that we go to the pumpkin farm Sunday instead. I'm trying to think of a way to do both. Anyone know of any good pumpkin farms in Syracuse?

I just cleared some room in my box this morning.

One of the prescriptions is Otomax for the yeast infection in his ear. The other is Corium-20 which is an ear cleaner.

The ear drops were given at the vet's office on Tuesday the 5th. He had peed in the house before this (could be coincidence). I didn't give him a second dose until Thursday the 7th...by this time had peed in the house several times. And he was given the ear drops on Tuesday the 12th. He has not been given it since. The betamethasone is known to have side effects of polyuria, kidney failure, but my understanding is when it is injected into the body or given orally...or if there is the presence of overexposure of the drug.

Featherz' link of diabetes insipidus has been tossing around in my head all night. Fausto's symptoms sound like that...and I know they tested for regular diabetes, and NOT for DI...which wouldn't show up in a normal urine sample, nor on the bloodwork done.

They have to withhold water and see if his body will produce a concentrated urine.

Again, I will present everything to my vet, this morning.
