Hi I'm new to chickens! I'm doing an internship/research project through HECUA (Higher Educational Consortium of Urban Affairs) to cycle kitchen waste (from a restaurant down the street) through urban meat chickens, raise them on a garden plot, utilize their waste for fertilize (the garden is in dire need of nutrients) and then slaughter and see how much they can realistically feed.
It's a new project but I'm hoping to spearhead the future of urban chicken-ing in Minneapolis for restaurants and to close the loop of nutrient leaks in gardening.
I'm getting my materials for the coop TODAY!
I have seen many neat designs on here and I can't wait to build my own.
