**URGENT** 4 week old baby chick sneezing!! Please! Help!! **URGENT**

This post was from 2010! I just realized but I'm so glad you all posted now! When I got my first 2 sets of chicks I kinda had a bad experience obviously that didn't stop me from getting more because my flock is up over 100 birds now with in 3 months lol It's safe to say I have an addiction! My first set I paid $5.00 ea for barred rocks 0.0 (I didn't know any better!) I went back 2 days later and got a couple more from the same lady and that weekend I bought more eggs from her and paid $10.00 for a appenzeller 0.0 (i was totally ripped off all birds were under 2 weeks old) and then 2 birds from another guy! Anyway I get home and noticed the next day that 1 chick held its wings down really low and was droopy it had no energy and wouldn't eat I brought it inside and called the lady she said sometimes chicks just die then eventually another got sick and another and another until I had only 3 out of 7 left of hers and soon after they died my appenzeller I paid 10.00 for died and it transferred over to the coop beside theirs and one of my Ameraucanas I ordered died! The last one to go was a polish 1 of the 2 I bought that same weekend I got hers! I recently got ahold of the lady and she informed me (she's on drugs and was obviously high other wise she wouldn't have told me this she thought I wouldn't put it together!) That almost every chick she ordered died (Probably 50 chicks!) and that she knew they were sick around the time she sold them to me! She never came out and said that I guess she didn't think I'd know the exact date I bought them! ;-( So unfortunately I know what that droopy crusty sickness looks like and these guys (knock on wood) don't seem to have the same thing they did! They all have energy and none have the droopy wing syndrome that the first group I had did! (They are not even close to the same cage the others were/are in!) So I dont know what happened i didnt transfer any poop or pet the others and pet them either the older ones aren't sick now anyway!) I did let the little Boogars out in their play pen to stretch their legs about a week ago! I let them peck around in a spot of grass for a couple hours! (none of my other chickens got sick like this though) Also I just moved them outside about a week and a half ago and its been ridiculously hot so I turned the heat lamp off during the day it was at least 100 degrees in that coop during the day! Wonder if any of these two factors could have played a roll in their sickness?

Extreme heat (over a hundred) is never good for chicks - that stress could make the other problems worse and certainly could have been a factor. Hope your next batches do better and you find a more reputable supplier!

I'm in Eastern Kentucky and I've been turning off their lamps all together the past couple days from this heat!! It's miserable I can't walk outside for 1 minute without pouring the sweat! Could that be what got them sick?

I'm not sure what the symptoms are - not crusty droopy wings like the first batch, right?
The heat isn't good - when we had a heat snap here in CA over 100 degrees - I put ice in the waterer, made sure they had good shade and even brought them inside to cool down in the hottest part of the day.
