They must have wiped out the local supply of laundry baskets!

They're $1.50 at Dollar Tree, and they had dozens for sale earlier this week.

What is in the baskets, poultry? How do they keep them from escaping? ETA okay I see two baskets on some. Must be tamer birds than I have. Mine would have the baskets rolling around like a hamster Ball

All the baskets had netting, wire, fencing, or in my case, a feed bag tied on the tops.

And my three are SOLD!

The ducks sold really well, some for $20 or more.

There also were quail, geese, pheasants, peafowl, and turkeys.

And guinea pigs, and rabbits.

And goats!

I was pleased because my birds sold for more money than many of the other adult chickens.

The single went for $75 I think, though it might have been $100. The trio went for about the same, per bird.

Some of the chickens sold for $2, one of mine sold for $3, the other two sold for $5 each. I saw Silkies sell for $10, some laying hens for more.

Growing...they're 7 weeks old today.

I don't expect a lot of eggs, but hopefully they will be laying by winter.

Sorry to read about your SIL, I hope you have a safe trip.

The scabs on Silas's comb may be Fowl Pox or possibly some scabs from injury or pecking, it can be hard to tell sometimes unless there's a lot more dotted lesions.

My birds have had Fowl Pox on different occasions over the years (it's mainly spread by mosquitoes which we have a lot of) and I've just left it alone, letting them heal up. Some do paint lesions with Iodine to help them dry up a little more quickly. I do watch that they eat/drink o.k., etc. the ones that have had it, it never seemed to even bother them. Good thing is once a bird has recovered, they build resistance so are unlikely to have it again.

All the spots on Silas' comb have healed.
