I posted about the hatchery mixup where I was sent producion Africans instead of the Super Africans I ordered. I am leaning towards getting replacement geese but have a couple of questions. Giving myself the weekend to make a decision.

Super African owners : what can you tell me about your birds as far as fertility brooding and mothering? It's important to me that they raise their own goslings.

How many eggs can I expect a season?

I have read the true dewlap Africans have poor fertility. True or false in your experience? I only have a kiddie pool not a pond for them to breed in.
Anything else to know about?

My white africans have terrible fertility and laying problems, but they are ok raising babies. I've noticed the better the quality with dewlap africans, the nicer and calmer the ganders are. On the other hand, my Metzer hatchery africans are much better layers, hatchers, and mothers.

Thanks so much for replying. It's Metzers I'm dealing with. Do your Metzer africans do ok breeding in a kiddie pool or do you have a pond?

Metzer's africans will breed in ponds, kiddie pools....they can even breed in a puddle. lol
Lol. Great, so I have that to look forward to. As if the chickens doin' it all over the yard weren't bad enought. LOL.
Just to be sure, we're talking about the super africans right? Sorry about the details, didn't even know there was a real difference until this week :(
