Urgent! Chicken swallowed nerf dart.

My chicken was grazing and found a nerf dart and ate it what do I do? This is a pic of the model of nerf dart she swallowed.

Wow that's pretty big.luckily its soft and lets hope some how it passes! I'm not sure what you can do at this point? Maybe someone else knows and will chime in to help. Mean time keep a close watch on her and make sure her crop is still emptying. If the crop does not empty in worst case you can try crop surgery to remove the blockage
But I would not go that far unless it was absolutely necessary! Just keep an eye out for blockages and good luck. Hopefully she will be fine.

You might want to take her to the vet while its still in the crop and they can remove it that way? Best wishes

My girls ate most of a Styrofoam cooler once while I wasn't looking, they're fine. Granted, they ate it in small bites and not 2.5 inch long chunks, but it didn't seem to affect them at all. It will probably pass through her system without any trouble. Just watch her closely for the next few days.

She is too beautiful a hen to lose - If she swallowed it whole, I would expect it will plug up her crop. I would take her to a vet or at least call and see if they would give advice.

I could try to call a vet but onetime one of our chickens got attacked by another rooster and was all torn up and bloody and all they said was we don't help birds or we are allergic to poultry etc. We have been giving her olive oil with water to help with moving it through I just hope it doesn't make her sick or upset her stomach. How did things turn out for your chicken? My favorite gal just swallowed a whole nerf bullet right out of my kids hand and I'm not sure what to do. Really don't want to lose my favorite bird.

Wow I’m going to follow this story. I would assume the vet need to take it out. But then again some birds eat mice. So maybe feel if it’s stuck in her track? This is quite interesting tho.

And I got to add, I have that same ruler man. It’s the only one that doesn’t brake.
