*URGENT* Creating A Brooder for Young Cockatiels?

I'm about to get a 3 week or older baby cockatiel, and it'll be my first time. They said they would explain weaning, but can I have some pointers? I have a large fish tank that I can use as a brooder, but how do I sanitize it, and does the baby need a heat lamp or something? What about bedding? How often should I change the bedding? Does the baby need toys to occupy it? Thanks!

congrats! for bedding use pine shavings, you do need a heat lamp, and i would change it every once a week. hope this helped!

yes it is fine as long as you make sure that none is left in.

By 3 weeks your baby should be feathered in enough that if you keep it in a warm room you won't need supplemental heat. Cleaning the tank with detergent and water should be sufficient.

Are you just going to have the one baby? I would definitely consider some stuffies for cuddly nest mates or those parrot cozy beds they can snuggle into! I've bought some very cute cuddle buddies off of eBay for my chicks. They will want comfort when not with you and aren't meant to be solitary ever. Good luck with your baby!
