It's good to hear that she's doing better.Hi everyone! Just wanted to give an update on my little baby Killer (her name).....she is doing just fine! No more limping and back to her normal self. When she cuddles up in my hair and neck I can hear her weezing a little....I still think she suffered a bit of internal damage, but who will ever know for sure. She is a hardy little one and I love her so much. My heart would have broken into a million pieces had she not recovered. Just wanted to let you guys know and say thanks again.![]()
X2!It's good to hear that she's doing better.![]()
I hope Chicken Nugget gets betterThank you everyone for posting all of these comments, all of this advice. There was an accident with our chickens and one of them was crushed under some wood. All of the other chickens were either standing on the wood or just laying by it making no noise or anything to alert me to a problem. I stood on the wood for a minute or two to shoo them all off so I could move it (couldn't easily get them off without doing that because of where it was situated). As soon as I lifted it and saw her under there my heart broke and I felt terrible for standing on her and not knowing she was there (I should have taken a better count of the chickens when I first got there). I brought her inside, and looked up "my chicken has been crushed" and found this thread. She's got the brood box set up downstairs with water, food, a heat lamp (since she'll be alone) and a towel for comfort. I put oregano in her water and food, as well as mealworms in the food (dried, btw, my chickens love them). Tomorrow I'm pick up some arnica to add to her food and water. Her name is Chicken Nugget, she's an Ameraucana, and is about 2.5 months old. I'll keep you guys updated, if you want.

I understand that the thread is from 2013, but the information is still good to learn from, and if I had waited on people replying to a new thread then the chicken might not have made it for people to give me advice (my husband thought there was nothing that could be done because she looked so bad and disoriented, so he thought we needed to cull her). I might still stay another one just so people have a more updated thread, but will probably link this one in that one because the information is really good. You should start a new thread here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures.10/
so you get some help. This thread is from 2013.
