Urgent! Egg partially open!

too funny, yes keep a warm cloth over the egg not ringing wet but damp. How are they doing is the first one working on getting out,?

I think she's a bit overwhelmed lol

Well, sorta.. i'll snap a pic now to show you the "babies"

Okay here the two are, the one on top is the egg hatch in progress, the second was the one fully hatched but with egg yolk attached, both are breathing and seem stable, that said the egg one is not trying to hatch at the moment.

Probably resting, it takes a lot of work to get out of those shells, Looks to me like it is making great progress. No dried membrane to worry about.

Morning ml!

well, here i just took a picture. Kinda a bad shot, but you can see eggy has hatched! now the eyes are not open(normal??) and the other that was hatched has yet to stretch out? should i change it's position or let it be? They are both very much alive!!

They are in the house btw, under a white 175 heat lamp(the best i could get in my hardware store) but i think red is more for chicks?? they seem good, we've gone cold again, so i flicked the heat on, the house is probably 71? i just want to make sure it stays that level, so the lamp actually increases enough. It's my old wood shipping crate brooder.

I feel so out my element, never hatched ducks before that is the mama ducks job here lol expanding my horizons was not on my list this week!

You have risen to the occasion!!! Hatching, as I have written before, takes nerves of steel.

Thanks for keeping us informed on all this. I have been making mental notes should I ever need to deal with something like this. Now that we have a drake, it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Thank you Amiga!

i really appreciate everyone having my back! it's great to bounce things off of others, definitely helps you feel more secure in the choices made.

We changed the paper towels from under yolky so it's fresher, whew the little monkey chirped and fought with me though, so it seems strong and stable. My nerves have become gummy worms
