URGENT...First time broody muscovy, hatched some....

This is my first experience with hatching ducks. My broody has hatched out 7 of her ducklings and is now off the nest. She has a lot more eggs in there. Will she go back if we take her ducklings so she will go back on the nest or is this just the way they do it?

From anything I have read here (I only have females), there is a wide variety of behavior with broody muscovies. Watch closely, because sometimes the duck gets aggressive with the young ones. Other times, they are the best mothers in the world. It really seems to depend. Muscovies have a reputation, however, of being good mothers. So I think you need to watch and see for at least a little bit.

Aside from that, you may want to do a search of the forum because I know there have been postings about new muscovy mothers and how to handle things.
