your keet should really see an avian vet.. there is most likely one in your general area..you can go online and type in avian vets in maine, and that should produce some results..i have exotics as well, a grey and a macaw. we had zebra finches a few years ago, and we had 2 parakeets that had been my sons since he was 8 he is now 19 we lost 1 and the other about 6 months later .......its unusual that he is not trying to disguise his symtoms, even tho he isnt with a flock those wild genes in birds kick in...i hope he'll be ok.. you know i just read not too long ago that birds do catch cold, that may be the problem. sounds as if you are a wonderful bird mum..as said check the sites online, maybe google parakeets health problems etc you may get some answers but i would check around for a vet..

Anyone cook with teflon pans in your house? Multiple indoor pet bird deaths- makes me think of toxins. Too hot teflon will kill them quickly by damaging their lungs. There are lots of household toxins that can harm/kill birds as their lungs are very sensitive. Some infectious problems- especially if you brought a new bird in recently. Different bugs than chickens, but the same concept.
