Urgent help-floppy neck!!!! Please advise

Had a 2 month old do this last week... it was hot outside that day.... my wife took a syringe, the kind for giving kids medicine... filled a bowl with sugar water, shot like 2 or 3 syringes full down the birds throat, put it in a seperate cage.. it was fine the next day, no problems..... i thought it was toast, it couldn't lift it's head at all......

Have you checked her crop for impacted? When she was brought inside, did you place fans or anything cold beside her to cool her down? Can you take her temperature,if you have a thermometer that you just aim to get a reading or if not take her temp in her vent, gently insert into her cloaca, temp should be 103 degrees Fahrenheit(young bird) - 107 older hen. If over 113 degrees Fahrenheit, she is overheated still, possibly due to heat stroke/stress.

I have brought her into the air conditioned house and wrapped her in a damp towel for a bit til she was cooler.

Thanks for giving me hope. I am giving her lots of sugar water with electrolytes.

SHe is slightly better today, looking more alert, able to get her feet under her although she cannot lift her body, and her wings and neck are still limp and flaccid. SHe is drinking electrolyte solution and eating a mash of yogurt and ground up chicken pellets.

feed her some scrambled eggs.. I know, it sounds wrong but it'll give her protein and calcium and B vitamins... all good for her. Best of luck, Helen
