Urgent Help! Hen going downhill fast

Hi, thanks for the quick response. I checked her vent and it seems fine, she hasn't had diarrhea, or any blood in her poop, which has been pale and almost like single cream half mixed with water. She's just sunk so fast today, I'm really afraid I've somehow made things worse. She was walking about this morning, and picking at food sporadically before "zoning out" for while. Now she's just motionless, with her eyes closed and won't stand up. :(
Take her inside and put her on a heating pad or under a heat lamp.
Oh sorry, you lost the sweet girl. I didn't go back and read. :hugs

I recently received a necropsy report on one of my "production layers" (sexlink) that was very interesting. Apparently the high volume of eggs combined with egg size can create micro-tears in the egg tract. These heal, but scar tissue builds up over time creating blockages and sometimes fibroids. Official cause of death is usually egg peritonitis or internal laying.
It seems like you gave your girl a very good retirement and that she was well loved to the end. :)
Very interesting @orrpeople thank you for sharing with us.

What is with chickens anyway? one day they are just fine, next day RIP!... but I did save a hen today, she was eating grass. I had to pull it out, 7 inches long in her body! crazy hen!:bow:sick
