Urgent help needed

How do I make her eat it? She isn’t very cooperative usually… do y’all think vitamin deficiency is more likely than mareks? She perked up with sugar water and some feed, but not extra vitamins…

I’ll add that vitamin deficiencies definitely don’t come on super suddenly like this. At least not that I’ve ever seen or heard of. There’s usually noticeable weakness before anything like paralysis occurs. That doesn’t mean it’s an impossible option, and no doubt it’s the ideal one, but it feels a little bit less likely. Then again, Mareks *usually* presents a little earlier than this so there is some abnormality in that possibility, too. Time will tell.

Is there a treat she likes? Usually I stuff pills inside blueberries, you can break large tablets up into pieces and stuff multiple. Sometimes I will break it into pieces and mix it in with their scratch, though somehow they always end up catching on to what’s really the good stuff or not lol.

Well she hasn’t been coming out of the coop right away like she used to for the last few days. Maybe that was a sign of lethargy? And hiding in a treat is a good idea. I did put some rooster booster in her water earlier - that has B1,2, and 6…

7 month old silkie pullet was on her side looking very much dead until I picked her up, at which point she moved her wing and leg. I put her near some grass and she started eating it. Put some feed in front and she is eating that too. But she is still on her side like this.

Her eyes look clear. Her vent looks a bit weird. It has been very rainy here so hard to tell if her butt is dirty just from the mud or also poo.

Welcome To BYC

Does she have any lice or mites?
Trim the feathers around her eyes so she can see better.
She has caked on dirt or feed on her beak and nostrils, try to clean that up.
Also the feathers around the vent are caked, it's hard to tell what's happening there, but give her a bit of a cleanup or if necessary, cut the poop/debris out of the feathers.

I'd definitely start her on the B-Complex as suggested and see how it goes.

The poop doesn't look good, can you take a sample to your vet to see if Coccidiosis or worms are part of the problem?

I did clean her up yesterday… and no mites or lice. Unfortunately this morning she regressed and was on her side again and kicking one leg a bit. I have to leave for work while it’s still dark out, so it may have been too early for her, but she had no interest in water, feed, or treats. Not having high hopes for what I’ll find when I get home.

Any updates?

Unfortunately, she was mostly paralyzed when I got home, couldn’t even sit… refused food and water and seemed to be on the verge of death. I felt it best to not let her continue to suffer.
