3 were born at the end of day 20 and I snuck them under Doris with no problem just on dark (she is the most gentile docile silkie - bordering on dim potentially (her full name is actual Doris the Slightly Dim Silkie)). She literally didn't do a thing other than that cute kind of shuffle withe her wings to tuck them under her! The following day we had 2 more so I added them that night and she now has 6 healthy happy chicks - I'm so pleased!!! 


That is such a great idea - I'm sure Doris would be find if I did that - and as someone once pointed out - chickens can't countRead a great story about similar situation where the keeper picked up one of mama's chicks then put down an extra. You'd have to have a good 'relationship' with mama to do that one.
