Urgent help

How is your quail now? Did she recover?
I have one and the same situation, it’s so bizarre. I went in to them one morning and she was on her side like she was dust bathing but then the others started walking over her. She is fine in herself, eats and drinks but I have to hold her to the water etc. she seems to twinge her legs a little, can flap her wings slightly, lays on her side, 💩 s fine and lays eggs still. Seems to have a little lump on her beak. Any ideas?

The lump on her beak implies that she hit her head. That is usually serious if they don't recover within a day or two.

Thank you. It’s been 2 days now. Likely need to be culled then. So sad. May I ask you another question? As it states you are a Quail geek 🙂

Of course! I try to answer what I can.
Thank you.
I hatched some jumbo quail, they are approximately 8 weeks now. All seem lovely, lively and healthy. But some of them have “lumps”, one for example has a large purple growth on her leg around the joint. And a few of them have extremely bulbous vents, it’s as though they’re very swollen above their vent and it sticks out very obviously like a balloon. Is this something to worry about? As I’m planning on breeding them for meat and eggs.

The bulbous vents are males. They swell up like that when they're sexually active. If you gently press on the lump, you will get foam. You don't want more than one male per 3-6 females. 1:5 is considered the ideal ratio.

What is their flooring like? Pictures of the legs would help. Jumbos can be prone to leg issues due to their size, but it depends on their genetics as well.
