Need help my male little button quail has lost feathers on his head. I don’t know what happened but he is missing feathers from his head. He may have boinked head so much they fell of? He seems to be acting normal. It may have been the female. He’s a Australian little button quail not king quail.

Unlikely haven’t seen any aggression form his mate and there would be blood. Nesting is unlikley as the males of true button quail do all the parenting.

How in the world did you end up with real button quail!?! That's so cool!

Are they doing well now? Did you figure out the problem?

Sorry for the late reply he’s doing well. I’m in Australia so true button quail are a little easier to come by but it’s still a lot of digging on pet lin. There really interesting birds the females are 30-50% larger then the males and the males do all of the parental duties. The chicks are also born completely helpless and must be nil feed by the dad.

Nope no heat lamp, was probably a currwong reading through mesh
