Egg externally pipped but shell membrane is intact. A piece of shell is off. do I poke a hole? there is movement. egg under a broody hen. thx

What if they break the shell and not the membrane and there's no other movement or noise?
No movement or noise for how long?

It they break the shell they are almost guaranteed to have broken the membrane.

I haven't seen it rock any more for at least a couple hours. The other one has a hole all the way through, but no further action and the third one has shell missing, but membrane intact for quite a few hours.

A few hours is ok. Wait 24 hours.
