URGENT!!! Please help...Hes got worse!!

Poor guy!
I am DEFINITELY not an expert, but in case it is of any use, I just wanted to tell you about my similar experience:

One day last year I noticed that of our young guys (less than one year) had something going on with his eye.
There was swelling and I couldn't see his eye at all, but since these guys are free range and not super friendly, I couldn't get a really good look.
The poor guy spent a few days under a bush and wouldn't let me get close.
By the time my neighbor managed to catch him to get a good look (within one week), there was no swelling at all and the area around the eye looked normal (with no treatment whatsoever).

HOWEVER:
This young fellow now has limited sight in that eye (he may even be completely blind in that eye, it's hard to tell).
(He gets along fine now even with his disability).

I think that this story strongly supports the suggestion that you take some kind of action for your guy, as soon as you can.
It shouldn't be too difficult since he clearly trusts you...
What that action would be, I leave to the experts that frequent this board!

Best of luck with your boy.

After looking on google for a bit longer.. I found Tylan 200..but It said on all the websites I went on that It has to be prescribed....Is there an equivalent?

here we can buy over the counter...200 will work ,just give for 3 days. you can see the wind pipe ,when you look down the throat.

injection work fast ,but will damage the muscle at the site. myself i could inject in the sinus or around the eye, but depends if you can.

if the bird is near death ,i will inject in the breast....yes will damage the area ,but better than a dead bird.

giving tylan by beek{mouth} better than a shot?

I think injecting works better in my opinion... The first time is always the hardest. Beklieve it or not, they actually hold pretty still for it. I am another one that injects into the sinus.

Well, when you think about it - it is a sinus infection so to me injecting into the sinus seems to be logical spot. Plus, it doesn't cause muscle deterioration. And if you're up for it you can stick in one needle and drain out as much as possible and then stick them with the second needle containing the Tylan 50. You don't really have to stick them a second time - if you're up for it you can drain out the pus, take the syringe off but leave the needle in and use a clean syringe with the med and put it on the needle and administer the med. But...all of this gets a bit touchy for someone who has said they don't think they can stick him so I try and give the path of least resistance. LOL

I thought I could not do what I did in my thread, but when the bird is suffering and you can save it's life you find that yes you can do a lot of things. After your done you can cringe and say eewwwe. Giving a needle is nothing compared to what I did LMAO!

Do you have a feed store like Agway or Tractor Supply in the UK. I did find Tylan 50 on Amazon.co.uk and it doesn't say anything about a prescription but it does say one is needed for tylan 200. If you can find a farm supply or feed type store they should carry something. Hopefully you can find something before you end up losing him, poor guy

I agree but it does damage the muscle. But i would inject in the breast on birds in real bad shape.

Best to give for min 3days. Even if bird looks better.
