Its true with the over populating, but people need to stop using up lands that have animals on like that.

Just maybe threaten to cancel your Aussie Holiday that is if you havent already! I like reading the comments, its very sad though, you can feel/read the pain in their pleas, God Love them. To read a comment next to the name, you dont have to click on it, you just have to move your cursor over the box and the comments show! much quicker.

Our website was down all day yesterday after the server was
'compromised' - we don't know yet whether we were the targets, but
it's quite likely. There are some nasty folk out there. However, the
overwhelming public response has been very supportive. Thank you for
adding those links to the other fora.

Both the www.wildcare.com.au and www.canberraroos.com websites are
back online now.

I went down to the site last night and the kangaroos had calmed down
somewhat after being very agitated around 2.00pm. There are a
determined group of protesters still camped out at the front gate and
they are monitoring the site closely. There will also be Japanese and
Korean TV crews there this morning.

I imagine that Roos hold a place in many Americans hearts, they are such unusual animals to us. But I do believe they are very over populated in many areas? A friend of mine from Sweden spend last year in New Zealand and Australia...he said that all cars in the area he was in had bumpers or big grills on the front of their vehicles so that when hitting the animal while driving caused no damage. He was amazed that people just hit the kangaroos and kept driving.
It's like wild horses here...what do you do with them? I would love one, but it is not in the stars for me!
 
Yes, there are lots of them, theres no doubt about that however they sustain and abstain from breeding in line with weather and water conditions.
I think its the shelter issue over there at the site with no trees for shade and its really hot.
When I see them in the bush, they are ALWAYS lying under the trees through the day and eat at night.
They have them wired in without shelter which is very cruel.

Yes they do cause damage to vehicles, I have a shuroo on mine which deters them when im driving.

Unfortunately lots of road fatalities are caused when drivers try to swerve their car to miss the roo.
When a roo is on the road at night, it gets totally confused and blinded by car lights and jumps in all directions.
Even if you slow right down they still nearly jump on the bonnet because of the lights.
The only way to avoid this is to depopulate the whole roo population !! there will always be cars and roos!!!
This is a sad situation and its not going away quickly.
